Apocalypse - a Complete Review (artifact)

Brass Herald (U) 6 Artifact Creature - Golem 2/2 As Brass Herald comes into play, choose a creature type. When Brass Herald comes into play, reveal the top four cards of your library. Put all creature cards of the chosen type revealed this way into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library. Creatures of the chosen type get +1/+1.

==> FUN: 5
The ideal creature type to choose would obviously be Golem, because that means Brass Herald receives its own bonus. One big problem is that most old Golems don't have creature type Golem. It's worth checking which ones have been errata'ed, or you can use a house rule that all artifact creatures with Golem in their name count as Golems.

It's worth using Brass Herald in other theme decks as well, especially with creature types that don't have a lord of their own yet.

---
Dodecapod (U) 4 Artifact Creature 3/3 If a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard Dodecapod from your hand, put it into play with two +1/+1 counters on it instead of putting it into your graveyard.

==> FUN: 4
A big improvement on Sand Golem. It's 1 mana less and gets and extra +1/+1 when it's discarded. Plus you don't have to wait until end of turn to put it into play. At 4 mana for a 3/3, it's even a playable creature all by itself. With all the discard in recent sets it's nice to see a useful anti-discard card again. It works pretty well in combination with Scandalmonger too. Use it to empty your opponent's hand and when he or she tries to do the same to you pick your Dodecapods to discard. You may control the Scandalmonger, but when your opponent uses it, he or she controls the ability, triggering your Dodecapod.

---
Dragon Arch (U) 5 Artifact 2, T: Put a multicolored creature card from your hand into play.

==> FUN: 3
Some people really like this card, but I don't think it's all that special. It depends on the type of game you're playing, off course and 2 mana for a 6/6 flier is pretty good, but I usually get plenty of time to cast those dragons the hard way. And if you're too dependent on the Arch, you can bet it'll be countered or disenchanted before you can use it.

---
Emblazoned Golem (U) 2 Artifact Creature - Golem 1/2 Kicker X Spend only colored mana on X. No more than one mana of each color may be spent this way. If you paid the kicker cost, Emblazoned Golem comes into play with X +1/+1 counters on it.

==> FUN: 2
An interesting concept, but the golem is never more than just ok for its cost. Sure, it can be a 6/7, but with nothing extra, it isn't worth it.

---
Legacy Weapon (R) 7 Legendary Artifact WUBRG: Remove target permanent from the game. If Legacy Weapon would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal Legacy Weapon and shuffle it into its owner's library instead.

==> FUN: 5
It won't fit in just any deck, but if you get it to work, it can really put a frown on your opponent's face. Removing permanents from the game is incredibly satisfying, which is the main reason I like playing with cards like Swords to Plowshares, Erase and Quash. It stops any problems you may have with creatures that won't stay dead.

---
Mask of Intolerance (R) 2 Artifact At the beginning of each players upkeep, if there are four or more basic land types among lands that player controls, Mask of Intolerance deals 3 damage to him or her.

==> FUN: 1
Ouch! I like my 5 color green decks, so it's not nice to see a hoser for them. Fortunately it's not that strong. Three damage a turn can be outraced with a dragon and it makes a nice target for Dismantling Blow. I don't like rare hosers, though. It's too disappointing to get one in a pack.
