Invasion - a Complete Review (land)

319. Ancient Spring Land Ancient Spring comes into play tapped. T: Add U to your mana pool. T, Sacrifice Ancient Spring: Add W and B to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 3 - FUN: 3
The behaviour is a bit like the sacrifice lands from Fallen Empires. It comes into play tapped and at the cost of sacrificing it, you get two mana. In this case, the two mana is of different colors, which is both good and bad. The good is that it can help you out if you lack the right mana, the bad is that it's not very useful for things that require a lot of specificly colored mana, like Drain Life. I don't think these are good enough to play, not with the new dual lands around, because those should fix color problems well enough.

320. Archaeological Dig Land T: Add one colorless mana to your mana pool. T, Sacrifice Archaeological Dig: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 4 - FUN: 3
This works better as a way to make sure you get the right colored mana. For one, it doesn't come into play tapped, which means it doesn't slow down your development. The big question when designing a deck's mana base is how much pain you can get away with from Cities of Brass and painlands. When using painlands, I've rarely found myself needing them for colored mana and in that case, Archaeological Dig would be an ideal substitute. You can use it for colorless mana without taking damage and if you really need it, you can get colored mana even at 1 life. Still, if you find yourself needing colored mana a lot, City of Brass or the relevant painland is obviously superior, not to mention the new dual lands.

321. Coastal Tower Land Coastal Tower comes into play tapped. T: Add W or U to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 5 - FUN: 4
These are inferior to the old dual lands, not just because these come into play tapped, but because the old ones count as both basic land types, which is nice with Kird Apes, Land Grant, Corrupt etc. Sure, it's a disadvantage as well, in case of Boils and such, but most of the time it was an advantage. Still, in spite of being inferior, these are very good. You can get colored mana with no drawback like pain or the land staying tapped a turn extra.

322. Elfhame Palace Land Elfhame Palace comes into play tapped. T: Add G or W to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 5 - FUN: 4
See Coastal Tower.

323. Geothermal Crevice Land Geothermal Crevice comes into play tapped. T: Add R to your mana pool. T, Sacrifice Geothermal Crevice: Add B and G to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 3 - FUN: 3

324. Irrigation Ditch Land Irrigation Ditch comes into play tapped. T: Add W to your mana pool. T, Sacrifice Irrigation Ditch: Add G and U to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 3 - FUN: 3

325. Keldon Necropolis Legendary Land T: Add one colorless mana to your mana pool. 4R, T, Sacrifice a creature: Keldon Necropolis deals 2 damage to target creature or player.

==> TOUR: 2 - FUN: 2
Five mana and tapping means it basically costs 6 mana to use. That's a lot, but not insurmountable. The real problem is sacrificing a creature. The only decks I can think of that have creatures to spare for sacrificing are weenie decks and decks which are especially built to generate sacrificial tokens with Breeding Pit and such. Weenie decks usually can't reliably get to 6 mana. Still, it wouldn't hurt much to put it in your deck just in case, but there are better candidates for that, ones that are more often useful.

326. Salt Marsh Land Salt Marsh comes into play tapped. T: Add U or B to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 5 - FUN: 4
See Coastal Tower.

327. Shivan Oasis Land Shivan Oasis comes into play tapped. T: Add R or G to your mana pool.

==> TOUR: 5 - FUN: 4
