Magic Online - a Magic the Gathering GameMagic Online is an online version of the Magic the Gathering card game. To play, you need this software package and an internet connection. Once you've installed the game, simply connect to the Magic Online server so you can play against hundreds of other players around the world. The interface is very easy to use and looks good. Be warned, though. You don't automatically have access to all the cards. You'll have to buy virtual booster packs at similar prices as normal ones. That makes playing Magic Online very expensive if you like to play finely tuned constructed decks. On the other hand, if you only buy the occassional booster, the price isn't too high for all the benefits of playing Magic Online. Those benefits are numerous. The big one is that you'll always have people to play with when you get the urge to play a few games of Magic. If you like drafting, you'll know it can be hard to get a draft togetheri n real life, but online you can always find a draft to join. In addition, Magic Online doesn't have any of the old power cards, the Invasion set is the oldest one available online. That means you can build competetive decks without having to take out a second mortgage. Another good thing is that once you collect a complete set of online cards of an expansion, you can trade those virtual cards in for a set of real ones. The software itself comes with a card inventory program that you can use to keep track of your real collection and it even has most (all?) of the card pictures available, although pre-Invasion pictures are of a lesser quality. The software also comes with a credit for a free online preconstructed deck, so you can start playing immediately, without spending any extra money. |
